Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in America can be traced all the way back to Boston in 1737! I’m sure we can all recognize that our celebrations these days bear little resemblance to the religious feast centuries ago, but it’s a fun day nonetheless (whether or not you’re Irish!).
Here in town, our friends at The Old County Inn have taken up the mantle for hosting an annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, and they really know how to host a great party! In fact- decorations are already up if you drive by now. We have always had a blast attending, and I know you will too. Last year the celebration was one of the last fun things we did as a family before everything locked down, and it’s hard to believe it’s been a year since then!
Party starts at 11am with the parade, so book a stay for Friday and come over to OCI or plan to stay all day and make a weekend of it with a stay at the inn. Keep your eyes peeled for our adorable 1970s red VW bus which will be decked out for the festivities and driving in the parade! We are personally donating a gift certificate and some goodies for their humane society fundraiser; OCI donates a portion of sales from the day to the Humane Society of Central Arizona (a great cause!). There will be food specials and miniature ponies- so cute!
You can see all of the details on OCI’s Facebook page, but here are some of the things to look forward to:
