Introducing: Windmill Coffee!

Updated: Feb 28

I'm thrilled to share a guest post today from our dear friends and colleagues: Dan and Marina Berryman. We've been blessed to know this sweet family for years, and have loved transitioning into this season of working together. In addition to Marina being our amazing property manager, her husband Dan operates the brand new Windmill Coffee, located in the windmill in front of the Inn. You can follow them on Instagram!

We are the Berrymans - Dan and Marina, and we live in Pine/Strawberry and own Windmill Coffee. Originally from Southern California, we made our way to the Rim by way of Phoenix. We have 3 children, 2 children-in-law, 3 grandsons, and helped to start and support an orphanage, House of Hope, that houses and cares for 9 children in Burundi, Africa. We enjoy traveling, music, and a good cup of coffee.

It has been a dream of ours to own our own coffee shop and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to hang up our shingle and explore flavor profiles while living and working in our community. We appreciate everyone who has stopped by to say ‘hi’ and look forward to continuing getting involved and building relationships in this area. A big motivator for us in starting this business is the chance to do social good. We would like for a portion of our profits to be able to go and fund operational expenses at House of Hope.

This fall we are currently working on a spice blend for a chai latte which we hope to add to the menu soon! The closest that we have gotten is roasting whole spices until they get toasty, and then playing with the proportions to get the right depth and interest in the blend. In the meantime, we have added a secret menu item, which is our spicy mocha.

Our hours of operation are 6:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. daily and we are working to be able to extend those hours. Our children always order our cold brew coffee (with a pump of vanilla and a dash of cream). The grandkids alternate between Italian Sodas and freshly squeezed juice. In addition to extended hours, we would like to add some food and baked items to the menu - let us know if there is anything in particular you are wanting to see at the Windmill!

Delicious Italian sodas!
